Ban on Mobile Phones without IMEI Code

It is possible that India would ban import of Chinese mobile phones which do not have an IMEI Code.
The 15 digit IMEI code helps the authorities to track the users of mobile phones having these codes.
There are an estimated 2.5 crores of Chinese Mobiles being used in India.
Airtel and Vodafone the two GSM Mobile Operators have said that they’ll be denying connectivity to such mobile phones sans IMEI Number.
